Lilongwe, where we live, in Area 23, houses a number of incredibly different people, and at the same time, it is an amazing community. In 23 we have all sorts of households from families that have two good incomes, to families with no income at all, big families in big compounds and small shelters with friends sharing a place to stay and a community. If you do not have money for food, you do not prioritize money for school uniforms, which the students must have in order to attend school. If you do not receive basic education, it is difficult to change your life for the better. So how can you and we, who are in the local community, contribute? This is where you come in. When you buy a jacket from us that makes you feel a little smarter, a little happier, and a little better equipped for a dark day, you make sure that a child in Lilongwe gets the opportunity to be a little smarter, a little happier and a little better equipped for life. For each jacket we sell, we sew a school uniform for a student who does not have one. Then we can have another child with an education, another child who can change their life and their living conditions. And we get one more person bringing colors into this northern world. It’s worth something.
